Fore first, you should know how a search engine works.
Search engine will put your rank at the most top position only if your site has a great quantity of back links. Back links are Links pointing to your website from another website. The more back links you have the higher your page rank will be. So let’s increase our page rank.

First, give comments. Giving comments to others articles and include our link or our domain name as our signature is the easiest way to get back links. The more comment you make the more back links you have. “You comment I follow”, search engines said.

Second, of course submit your url to search engine directories. Search engine directories are a good way to get more free links to your website. Some search engine directories allow you to submit your site freely and the others don’t.

Third, links from high ranked websites. Go to search engine then find the sites that have the same interest like yours. Try to link to them, just like giving comment but try to a bit promote your site because high ranked websites have many readers.

Fourth, provide e-mail subscription and search engine box on your web page. They will help you to keep your readers back or at least stay on your web site because they can search another website through yours.

Fifth, Join communities or forums online. Usually they will ask you to submit at least one of your articles to be promoted on forum and of course including your site url. Unfortunately I haven’t done it yet.

Try to submit the most interesting topic of yours. Hopefully when their members read your article, getting interested and put your link to their own websites.

The Last, be frequent updating your posts, because readers need a new and fresh article or news and not the old one.

Please notice, when looking for link partners don't just link to websites that have a page rank of 4 or higher. Link with any site you get a chance to. If you link to someone that has a page rank of zero, this will not decrease your page rank. It will only increase it because you are getting a link back to your website. Google doesn't look at your back links page ranks to determine what yours is going to be. It simply looks at how many back links you have.
